“Not called!” did you say? “Not heard the call,” I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. God stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father’s house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there. Then look Christ in the face – whose mercy you have professed to obey – and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish his mercy to the world. What do you think of Mr. Booth's challenge? Manipulative? Accurate?
I agree with him to the extent that he is right that we are all called to share God's love. We don't need a special revelation like a vision or a "word from God" to know we are called to this. We know it because we have God's sure word in the Bible.
How we go about that calling, however, will be different for each person. Some people are especially gifted evangelists, while the rest of us muddle along as best we can. The point is though, that we all need to recognise that we have the joy and responsiblity of representing the gospel to the world through words and actions.
