Engagement anniversary

On Sunday Dave and I celebrated our engagement anniversary. I know that is a weird thing to do, but it was lots of fun.

We went back to Mt Field where Dave gave me the ring on March 10, 2007. We had a picnic, visited the waterfall, and returned to the log where we sat when Dave gave me the ring.

That evening after church we went back to "our rock", where Dave asked me to marry him. We sat on it for the first time since we've been married! It was a beautiful night.

I am so thankful to God for giving Dave and I each other! It was a wonderful day one year ago when we no longer had to wonder "will I spend my future with this person?" and instead we could look forward to and plan a future together. The anniversary was a special time to remember what God has done.

I am grateful that I had some respite from sickness on this day, so that we could go out, even though I've had lots of relapses since then!

  1. Sherrin ~ I don't think it's weird at all to celebrate such a special occasion. I think it's very sweet!

After almost 28 years we still celebrate: 1st time we met, our first phone call, first visit, first time we said I love you, our proposal, and I know there must be another one or two special occasions that I'm not listing! LOL!

I think it is a good thing to have times of remembrance and thanking the Lord for the way He has led you two together. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it even after being sick. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  2. I think that's sweet, not weird :-). Adrian and I usually remember our "lunaversaries", as we call monthly reminders of our engagement or wedding, but no special celebration. It's just fun to remember that we were engaged so many months ago or married x number of months before :-).

  3. What a wonderful way to spend your day!
We often reflect back on the day my dave asked me to marry him. It was truly a special day! we love any reason for an anniversary! We even now "celebrate" when our daughters asked Jesus into their hearts! That one is the best!! am praying you will feel better soon

  4. It is fun to know that others also enjoy celebrating these anniversaries :). I am in good company! I love to hear your stories :).

Thank you also for your prayers. I am feeling better today than I have for a week.

Susan, at last now we have a better word for month-aversaries!

  5. That isn't weird at all. I wish I was more on the ball to remember anniversaries. For instance, I don't remember our engagement date. I know it was the last weekend in April, but I don't even know if it was a Sat or Sun! It was spontaneous, so maybe that is why I can't remember it.

  6. Can I echo the rest? :-) It is not weird to celebrate your engagement. My husband and I celebrate our first dinner together!
Congratulations on a year already! The Lord is so good!
I too hope you are feeling better...
    Blessings!
